TL;DR
If you only have 30 seconds, here’s what you need to know:
- Pactum’s latest release expands what procurement can hand over to AI agents. Across direct procurement, indirect procurement and supplier engagement, agents take on more complex commercial work, with more control for the teams governing them.
- Direct procurement gains a commercial intelligence layer. The new Commercial Intelligence Hub brings cost breakdowns, price history, market movements and negotiation status into a single workspace, and Pactum can now read engineering drawings to generate cost structures automatically.
- Indirect procurement moves from commercial signal to executed negotiation. Automated Tactical Sourcing v2.0 lets teams delegate sourcing decisions at scale with consistent governance across Coupa, SAP Ariba and SAP S/4, with tunable negotiation behaviour and automatic quote validation before anything reaches a purchase order.
- Supplier engagement reaches further with less manual chasing. Contact validation now runs autonomously, suppliers who didn’t convert can be re-engaged in a single click, negotiations run in 40+ languages, and signed contracts are available directly in Pactum Suite.
- More autonomy on one side, more control on the other. Every capability in this release pairs execution with governance: behaviour you can tune, output that is verified before it moves downstream, and an audit trail that builds itself.

Your AI Workforce Is Taking On More Complex Procurement Work
September 2026 marks another step in Pactum’s evolution into an AI workforce for procurement. Our agents are taking on more of the work that sits between identifying an opportunity and acting on it, from understanding the commercial case behind a supplier price increase to executing sourcing events and engaging suppliers at scale.
In Direct Procurement, Pactum is moving beyond negotiation into commercial intelligence and margin protection. Buyers can now analyze supplier price increase claims, understand the cost structures and commodity movements behind them, and identify where there’s a case to challenge.
In Indirect Procurement, more advanced sourcing and negotiation capabilities give buyers greater automation and control across the sourcing workflow. More sourcing decisions can move from signal to execution without adding more manual work for procurement teams.
In Supplier Engagement, new capabilities make it easier to reach and re-engage suppliers at scale, validate contact information, handle responses and exceptions, and create more natural interactions through email.
Together, these capabilities expand what Pactum can take on for your organization. They help procurement teams manage more complex workflows, make better-informed commercial decisions, and automate more of the day-to-day work that consumes their time and capacity.
Here’s what’s new.
Direct procurement: build the commercial case before the supplier builds theirs
When a supplier asks for an increase, the only way to challenge it is to know what the material should cost, which cost drivers actually moved, and what the contract already says. Category managers know how to do that analysis. What they don’t have is the hours to do it for 20 to 30 claims a week, each one taking two to three hours of research spread across contracts, commodity indices, energy prices, freight and supplier history.
Pactum’s latest release closes more of that gap by giving buyers a single place to work from, and by taking one of the slowest parts of the analysis off their plate entirely:
Commercial Intelligence Hub
Direct procurement teams lose hours piecing together data from scattered spreadsheets, and by the time the picture is assembled the market has often moved again. The Commercial Intelligence Hub brings cost breakdowns, price history, market trends and live negotiation status into one workspace, so buyers can see where a price sits against the market and decide what to do about it in the same place.
Instead of rebuilding the commercial context every time a claim lands, the context is already there, which makes for faster and more confident decisions across the whole portfolio rather than only the categories someone had time to prepare.
Engineering drawing-based cost structures
Precise cost structures are what make index monitoring and price increase claim validation credible. They are also slow to build by hand, which limits how much of a portfolio ever gets one. Pactum can now read engineering drawings and generate cost structures automatically, breaking a part down into the drivers that determine what it should cost.
That accuracy compounds downstream. Better cost structures mean sharper index monitoring, stronger should-cost models, and more defensible responses when a supplier claims a raw material or energy movement justifies an increase.
Building one cost structure by hand improves one negotiation. Building them automatically across a portfolio changes what procurement can defend.
Indirect procurement: from commercial signal to executed negotiation
A requisition arrives that should have been competed. A quote comes in above the rate card. A signal appears that a buy is worth negotiating, and then it takes a series of manual handoffs across systems to act on it, so the request goes straight through to a purchase order instead.
This release is about removing those handoffs, and about giving teams enough control over the agents that delegating the work feels safe.
Automated Tactical Sourcing v2.0
Turning a commercial signal into an executed negotiation used to involve manual steps across several systems. Buyers can now delegate sourcing decisions to Pactum’s tactical sourcing and negotiation agents at scale, with consistent governance applied to every event and full integration across Coupa, SAP Ariba and SAP S/4.
That means tactical spend that never justified a sourcing event on a person’s calendar can now get one anyway, executed inside the procure-to-pay environment the team already works in.
Aggressiveness control
Not every negotiation calls for the same posture. A long-term strategic supplier in a constrained category needs a different approach to a long-tail vendor in a competitive one. Teams can now tune how assertively Pactum negotiates on their behalf, so the agent’s behaviour matches the commercial strategy rather than applying a single setting to the entire base.
This is what delegation at scale actually requires. The agent runs the conversation, and procurement still decides how hard it pushes.
Quote validation
Manually checking every finalized negotiation against the agreed terms is tedious, easy to skip and easy to get wrong. Every finalized negotiation is now verified automatically before it flows into downstream purchase orders and contracts.
It closes one of the most common gaps between negotiated savings and realized savings, the one where a term is agreed and then never quite makes it into the document that governs the spend.
Supplier language selector
Suppliers negotiate better when they can negotiate in their own language. Pactum now supports more than 40 languages, with a self-service switch that lets a supplier change language mid-conversation if the first choice isn’t the right one.
Removing that friction lifts participation, and higher participation is what turns a large supplier base from a coverage problem into a source of commercial value.
Copy and duplicate events
Re-entering the same details for every similar sourcing event is a small tax that adds up quickly. Teams can now launch a new event from a pre-filled draft, including copying across workspaces, so a proven event structure can be reused instead of rebuilt.
Supplier engagement: reach every supplier, then reach them again
Running a campaign across a supplier base exposes a truth most teams already suspect. A meaningful share of suppliers never respond the first time, contact records are out of date, and the follow-up work needed to fix both is exactly the work nobody has capacity for.
Autonomous contact validation and contact history
Accurate contact records are the foundation of supplier engagement, and they decay constantly. Contact validation in Campaigns now happens autonomously in most cases, with a complete, auditable history that shows every touchpoint against every contact.
Each campaign therefore does two jobs at once. It pursues the commercial outcome, and it leaves the supplier base cleaner and more reachable than it was before the campaign started.
One-click re-engagement of non-converted suppliers
Suppliers that were unreached, expired or declined used to represent a decision nobody had time to make: relaunch the negotiation manually, or write off the value. Those negotiations can now be relaunched in a single click directly in Pactum Suite, with reporting and audit trails staying accurate throughout.
A supplier who ignored the first outreach isn’t a lost opportunity. It usually just means the timing was wrong, and now the second attempt costs almost nothing to make.
Signed contracts available directly in Suite
When negotiations close autonomously and DocuSign executes the agreement, the resulting contracts need to be easy to retrieve. Signed contracts can now be downloaded individually or in bulk directly from Pactum Suite, so the record of what was agreed sits alongside the negotiation that produced it. Bulk download is rolling out in phases.
Built into the systems your team already uses
Pactum connects directly into the source-to-pay platforms enterprises already own, including Coupa, SAP Ariba and SAP S/4, so agents execute inside existing workflows rather than beside them.
This release also makes that connection easier to own. Ariba administrators can now configure and manage the Ariba-Pactum integration directly in Suite, with guided steps and instant credential checks, so standing up or adjusting the integration no longer depends on a support cycle.
More autonomy on one side, more control on the other
Look across the release and a pattern emerges. Every capability that lets an agent take on more work is paired with a capability that gives procurement more control over how that work is done.
- Agents source and negotiate more autonomously, and aggressiveness control determines how firmly they push.
- Agents close more agreements without a buyer in the loop, and quote validation verifies every outcome before it reaches a purchase order.
- Agents run campaigns across thousands of suppliers, and contact history records every touchpoint for audit.
- Agents build cost structures automatically, and buyers see the full commercial picture in one workspace before they decide anything.
That pairing is the whole point. Procurement teams don’t hesitate to delegate work because agents can’t do it. They hesitate because delegating without visibility or control is not something any function accountable for compliance and margin can reasonably sign off on. Expanding autonomy and expanding governance are the same project.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s new in Pactum’s latest release?
The release expands what Pactum’s AI agents can execute across three domains. In direct procurement, the Commercial Intelligence Hub consolidates cost, pricing and market data into one workspace, and Pactum can now generate cost structures from engineering drawings. In indirect procurement, Automated Tactical Sourcing v2.0 enables delegated sourcing at scale, with aggressiveness control and automatic quote validation. In supplier engagement, contact validation runs autonomously, non-converted suppliers can be re-engaged in one click, negotiations run in 40+ languages, and signed contracts are available directly in Suite.
What is the Commercial Intelligence Hub?
It is a workspace for direct procurement teams that brings cost breakdowns, price history, market trends and negotiation status together in one place. Instead of assembling that picture from scattered spreadsheets every time a supplier claim or negotiation comes up, buyers start from the full commercial context and move straight to the decision.
How can AI generate a cost structure from an engineering drawing?
Pactum reads the drawing and derives the cost structure of the part from it, identifying the components and drivers that determine what it should cost. Because cost structures underpin index monitoring and price increase validation, generating them automatically improves the accuracy of everything downstream, and it makes it feasible to cover far more of a portfolio than manual modelling ever allowed.
What does aggressiveness control do?
It lets procurement tune how assertively Pactum negotiates on its behalf, so the agent’s posture matches the commercial strategy for that supplier or category. A strategic supplier in a constrained market can be handled differently to a long-tail vendor in a competitive one, without procurement having to run either conversation manually.
How does quote validation prevent savings leakage?
Every finalized negotiation is verified automatically against the agreed terms before it flows into downstream purchase orders and contracts. That removes the manual double-check teams rarely have time for, and it closes the gap where a negotiated term is agreed but never quite makes it into the document that governs the spend.
Can Pactum re-engage suppliers who ignored the first outreach?
Yes. Negotiations that were unreached, expired or declined can be relaunched in a single click directly in Suite, with reporting and audit trails staying accurate. Most non-responses are a timing problem rather than a lost opportunity, and a second attempt now costs almost nothing to make.
How many languages can Pactum negotiate in?
More than 40. Suppliers can negotiate in the language that works best for them and switch languages themselves mid-conversation if needed, which removes a long-standing barrier to participation across global supplier bases.
Which systems does Pactum work with?
Pactum executes inside the source-to-pay environments enterprises already own, including Coupa, SAP Ariba and SAP S/4. Ariba administrators can now configure and manage the integration themselves in Suite, with guided steps and instant credential checks, so there is no rip-and-replace and no parallel process for teams to learn.
Does this mean AI is replacing procurement teams?
No. The agents take on execution: the validation, research, sourcing, negotiation and follow-up that consumes capacity without requiring procurement expertise. People set the strategy, define the guardrails, own the supplier relationships and make the judgment calls, and anything outside the defined rules escalates to a person with the context to decide.
How do procurement teams stay in control as agents take on more?
Control is built into each capability rather than layered on afterwards. Negotiation behaviour is tunable, outcomes are verified before they move downstream, contact and campaign activity is fully logged, and every action the agents take is captured in an audit trail that builds itself as the work runs.
How quickly can teams start using these capabilities?
Because Pactum runs inside the procure-to-pay systems teams already use, new capabilities arrive in the environment they already work in rather than through a separate implementation. Existing customers should speak to their Customer Success Manager for a walkthrough, and teams new to Pactum can book a demo to see the agents working on real procurement work.
What is autonomous procurement?
Autonomous procurement means AI agents execute procurement work independently within guardrails procurement defines, rather than producing recommendations for a person to act on. Our ebook, What Is Autonomous Procurement, covers how it works across the lifecycle, and the procurement savings calculator gives an estimate of what it is worth across your own spend.
